Meet Coach Katie
I’ve been running since my late 20s, having been one of the countless women put off by school sport. I had dabbled in dance-aerobics, yoga and some gym sessions for a while, but a major life event in 2007 got me pounding the streets.
Since then, I’ve just kept going!
I run because I want to be fit, not to win things, and I rarely run to get faster. While medals and personal bests (PBs) are important to many, for me it’s about finding some head-space and enjoying the outdoors. I also love seeing my runners achieve their goals, whether it’s a first attempt at a new distance, making it to the top of one of Tilehurst’s ‘famous’ hills for the first time or smashing their PB – TRT runners always make me smile!
I started coaching as a volunteer with Reading Roadrunners in 2015 and I am hugely proud of having created an inclusive and friendly running group at Tilehurst Runs Together.
Athletes at TRT sessions are encouraged to be their best today, not to compare themselves with others and to remember that the variables in all of our lives make each run different from the last.
Mostly though, I want to help people to feel well, both physically and mentally.
If you’ve any questions about your running journey, pop me a message and I will get back to you as quickly as I can. I will never do any ‘selling’ and, if I know I’m not the coach you need right now, I’ll point you to someone who is.
Happy running,
